[one-users] How works the network manager?

Hi all,

Somebody can help me to understand how the network manager works?
when is it  involved during the creation of a vm except the fact that it
assigns the good mac address to the virtual interface and the fact that the
next vm which want's a lease on this network will not be able to have the
same mac?
Does it manage the bridging (creation, link)?

Because for me it actually seems to do nothing except managing mac
addresses.
