[one-users] sunstone uploads

I don't believe the VMID would be shown in the template itself, because OpenNebula will assign a new VMID when the VM is deployed.

Just to be sure I'm understanding what you're attempting to do, you need to ensure that a name you specify in the template is what is assigned to the VM as it's hostname?

Searching further in the onevm show 45 I find this section

VIRTUAL MACHINE TEMPLATE
AUTOMATIC_REQUIREMENTS="CLUSTER_ID = 100"
CONTEXT=[
DISK_ID="1",
ETH0_DNS="192.168.250.26",
ETH0_GATEWAY="192.168.250.254",
ETH0_IP="192.168.251.3",
ETH0_MASK="255.255.255.0",
ETH0_NETWORK="192.168.251.0",
NETWORK="YES",
TARGET="hdb" ]
CPU="1"
FEATURES=[
PCIBRIDGE="8" ]
MEMORY="512"
OS=[
GUESTOS="windows7_64Guest" ]
RAW=[
DATA_VMX="pciBridge4.virtualDev = \"pcieRootPort\"\npciBridge4.functions = \"8\"\npciBridge5.virtualDev = \"pcieRootPort\"\npciBridge5.functions = \"8\"\npciBridge6.virtualDev = \"pcieRootPort\"\npciBridge6.functions = \"8\"\npciBridge7.virtualDev = \"pcieRootPort\"\npciBridge7.functions = \"8\"\nvmci0.present = \"TRUE\"\n",
TYPE="vmware" ]
TEMPLATE_ID="11"
VMID="45"

I see VMID liste at the bottom -- which is used in the IEETM CONTEXT for their template -- but VMID doesn't exist in the onetemplate showing -- so does that mean it pulls only from the VIRTUAL MACHINE TEMPLATE section of onevm show <ID> ? I cant use data from above that line?

So -- after creation of the VM -- I have this information in the onevm list

oneadmin at u-cmh-neb-dev01:~$ onevm show 45 VIRTUAL MACHINE 45 INFORMATION
ID : 45
NAME : u-cmh-dev-win34
USER : oneadmin
GROUP : oneadmin
STATE : ACTIVE
LCM_STATE : RUNNING
RESCHED : No
HOST : 192.168.250.34
START TIME : 07/22 08:51:58
END TIME : -
DEPLOY ID : one-45

Where does $VMID get defined? Does it relate to ID in the list above? If so, can I then use $VMNAME to relate to NAME above?

I need the NAME in this output to be the one that contextualization uses -- this is a dev name for my testing, and each name we create will be related to specific accounts and purposes

To automate this process, I need to be able to pull that name into the the Context settings -- if that's not possible, I need to find a separate way to make it work

And then I will be adding a feature request :)

Hi Michael,

$NAME refers to the name of the VM. if you have defined explicitly a name in the VM template

NAME=MyVM

then $NAME would resolve to "MyVM". If not, it will resolve to "one-<vid>".
