Well, basicly,

a) Install opennebula, via package or compiling it from source. This is
a normal install, without any special requirement etc.

b) Check that the options enabled in oned.conf regarding the IM_MAD,
VMM_MAD...  correspond to the hypervisor you want to use. You can use
the dummy drivers if you are just playing around (uncomment them).

c) Start opennebula ('one start') and add localhost as a node ('onehost
create localhost ...').

Then you can create VMs and deploy them in that [local]host... don't
hesitate to ask if you have more specific questions or get stuck
somewhere. Docs[1] about planning and installing might come very handy
too...
