Hello All,
I was doing a bit of research with regards to migrating from our current
OpenVZ VPS installations to a small cloud with the purpose of providing
SaaS to customers. I looked at a number other Opensource Cloud Projects
and I have decided to give Opennebula a try as it seems like a great
project to get involved with.
I am trying to devise a suitable partitioning scheme for the Front-End
Management Server and the Host Node. I looked through the documentation
but I don't see any info with regards to the partitioning requirements
so I would be grateful for your best practice recommendations.
*** Front-End Management Server ***
OS: Ubuntu 11.04 LTS 64-bit
Installation: Self Contained in /srv/cloud/one
Hard Disk: 2 x SATA 1TB Drives in Hardware RAID 1
/dev/sda1: 300MB /boot
/dev/sda2: 8GB swap
/dev/sda3: 40GB /
/dev/sda5 4GB /tmp
/dev/sda6 40GB /var
/dev/sda7 100GB /srv/cloud/one
/dev/sda8 Free Space /datastore (LVM)
*** Host Node Specs ***
OS: Ubuntu 11.04 LTS 64-bit
Installation: Self Contained in /srv/cloud/one
Hypervisor: KVM
Hard Disk: 4 x SATA 1TB Drives in Hardware RAID 1+0
Storage: Non-Shared File Storage
/dev/sda1: 300MB /boot
/dev/sda2: 8GB swap
/dev/sda3: 40GB /
/dev/sda5 4GB /tmp
/dev/sda6 40GB /var
/dev/sda7 100GB /srv/cloud/one
/dev/sda8 Free Space /datastore
We decided not to go with Non-Shared File System for the time being
because one of the Instances will be a "busy" Database Server that we
will migrating from a dedicated server and will need to use Local Storage.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.
